FTM - Field Team Member
Definition: A FTM (Field Team Member) is an individual that has successfully completed all of the training requirements as set forth below. The FTM is capable of performing SAR operations any time of day or night, in any weather, and any time of year.
Qualifications: Has completed the FTM Certification Form. Possesses all day and extended equipment to be self sufficient for a minimum of 72 hours. Understands legal aspects of search and rescue. Is capable of operating in the field, under the supervision of a FTL, without constant supervision. Has a working knowledge of lost person behavior. Has completed an approved Search Responder course. knowledge of Lost Person Behavior. Can identify their responsibility when working with search dogs and mantrackers. Describe radio procedures, and the phonetic alphabet. Demonstrate litter handling techniques. Demonstrate ability to tie patient into stokes basket and sked device. Set-up and use of belay systems. Navigation Skills Demonstrate Hasty Search, Sign Cutting, Route Search, Flag Line, Attraction and Confinement.
